What is MRCPCH?
MRCPCH stands for the Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, UK. It is primarily a postgraduate qualification awarded by the Royal College.
Who can take this exam? What are the eligibility criteria?
Anyone who has completed an MBBS degree can take this exam.
Explain the structure of this exam.
The MRCPCH exam has four parts:
- Three theory exams: FOP, TAS, AKP
- One clinical exam
Theory exams can be attempted in any order. Once all theory exams are cleared, you can appear for the Clinical exam.
How many diets are these exams conducted?
There are 3 diets for theory exams.
- FOP & TAS are conducted 3 times a year:
- FOP in the morning and TAS in the afternoon.
- February
- June
- October
- AKP exam is conducted 3 times a year:
- January
- May
- September
The Clinical exam is conducted multiple times a year depending on the center.
What is the fee structure for these exams?

Are these exams computer-based?
Yes, all theory exams (FOP, TAS, and AKP) are computer-based.
Can these exams be taken online or at a center?
The exams can be taken via online invigilation or at centers available in each country.
How much time is required for the preparation of each of these exams?
Preparation time is entirely individual; however, the general recommendations are:
- FOP & TAS: 4-5 months
- AKP: 3.5-4 months
- Clinical: Mainly 6-8 months
